Michael Rosen will unveil expanded West Twyford Primary
The acclaimed poet and author, Michael Rosen has been invited to unveil a new Ealing primary school building.
West Twyford Primary school has been refurbished as part of Ealing Borough Council’s school expansion programme, and the new building will be officially opened next month.
The old school has beeen replaced with a larger 2 form entry building - helping meet the increasing demand for school places.
Rachel Martin, Headteacher, said: ''The school staff and pupils were very much involved in the design of our new building and we are really pleased with the results. We have created sizable, stimulating classrooms to aid learning as well as specialist rooms for group work, arts and music lessons.''
The timber frame building has a tiled facade, photovoltaic panels and uses the latest technology for teaching and learning. In addition, there are landscaped grounds, a curriculum garden, hen coop, pirate ship play frame, quiet areas and a large field.
The opening ceremony will take place at 1:45pm on February 8th, with local dignitaries and lead people from the Local Authority in attendance. There will be a plaque unveiling and tree planting to mark the occasion.
Michael Rosen served as Children's Laureate from June 2007 to June 2009 and has been a TV presenter and a political columnist.
He will spend the day with the children running workshops about his work including a performance of the popular ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’.
