Latest Stage in South Acton Transformation Approved

Green light for phase 7.1 of £600m redevelopment

The latest stage in the transformation of the South Acton estate has been approved.

This huge £600m redevelopment over 52 acres - rebranded as Acton Gardens - has been given planning consent for Phase 7.1. 

It is one of the largest residential regeneration schemes in London, and a partnership between L&Q (a housing association) and Countryside Properties (a property development company).

When finally complete - in 2026 - the scheme promises to deliver over 2,500 new homes, with approximately 50% affordable housing, family accommodation, along with 'enhanced transport links, retail and community facilities and extensive public open spaces.'

Each phase of Acton Gardens has been designed by a variety of different architects. This latest phase by Stitch Studio, will create 246 new homes and include 104 affordable homes and 142 for private sale homes, in a mix of apartments, houses and what's known as 'duplex überhaus™'.

Building work is expected to begin next summer, to be finished by the end of 2019.  

In recent months, construction has begun on Phase 4 designed by PCKO Architects and this will deliver 107 new homes.

Demolition and site clearance has also started for Phase 5 which has been designed by HTA Architects and will deliver a further 271 new homes.  

Overall completion of the 21 multi-phased scheme is currently anticipated to be in 2026.
